||
Big City Burlesque started in 2002. The first performance was held in the Tommy Crow Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. The troupe's creation resulted from a friendship between Kenton McGhee, Tommy Crow and Barry Hodgin.
Kenton was brought in to work his magic on a music video. The video was a period piece circa 1940.... Paris, France. The costumes and makeup were of such high quality, that after the production ended, Tommy and Barry agreed to help Kenton realize his dream of starting a burlesque troupe. The first Big City Burlesque performance was on a stage built within the production studio.The first show played to a full house and was a raging success. Kenton continued developing the troupe with help from Tommy and Barry.
Time passes...both Barry and Tommy subsequently move from Atlanta. Kenton keeps the faith and struggles to sustain the troupe..During this period Kenton refines his vision and works hard finding quality players, writing skits, creating new characters and looking for venues.
Fast forward five years... Big City has a major breakthrough when it's performance at the 2008 Atlanta Dragon Con is sold out... standing room only.... the police have to come to restore order... a big big validation for Kenton. He calls the other two and passes on the good news....strangely enough the timing is excellent for both Tommy and Barry...the three friends unite once again.
Big City Burlesque and Vaudeville troupe begins to find commercial and artistic success...the Three Amigos start to have big serious fun...The story of Big City Burlesque continues to unfold.......
